Slideshow: Stunning storms feature in Weather Photographer of the Year 2020

Incredible images of weather phenomena from across the globe have been released as the finalists for this year’s ‘Weather Photographer of the Year 2020’ competition are revealed.

More than 7,700 photographs were submitted by over 2,600 photographers, and entries depicted everything from clouds, lightning, rain, fog and snow through to the impact of weather on humans, cities and the natural landscape.

The contest, run by The Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS), in association with AccuWeather, offers a first prize of £500 plus a HERO8 Go Pro camera and a year’s membership of RMetS.
