The sneaky detail you missed about Serena Williams' wedding outfit

She’s one of the greatest tennis players in history, so it’s no surprise that Serena WilliamsBeauty and the Beast themed wedding included a fair few shout outs to her stellar career.

The 36-year-old bride wed Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in a star-studded ceremony in New Orleans, USA, and was sure to sneak a very personal nod to her favourite sport into her second outfit.

Serena walked down the aisle in a spectacular Sarah Burton designed ball gown from Alexander McQueen before changing into a more playful mini dress by Versace.

But what you may have missed while getting caught up in the magic of her photos, was Serena’s choice of footwear, which very suitably was a pair of bejewelled sneakers.

The sparkling Nike runners look to have been specially crafted for the champion’s special day and perfectly matched her reception where all the tables were named after world Grand Slams like table two, the Australian Open.

Guests were also lucky enough to take home little replicas of the Grand Slams Serena has won, with the mini trophies used to hold down the place names on the tables.

The likes of Beyoncé, Caroline Wozniacki and Kim Kardashian were among the 200 guests on hand to watch the happy couple – who have also recently become parents – tie the knot.

Meanwhile Serena’s mum Oracene Price was on babysitting duty and held onto their two-month-old daughter Alexis Olympia.

Serena and new hubby Alexis first met back in 2015 and announced their engagement just after Christmas last year.

During the wedding, Alexis told his bride “You are the greatest of all time, not just in sport,” according to Vogue.

“I’m talking about as a mother and as a wife. I am so excited to write so many more chapters of our fairy tale together,” he said.
