Sports Illustrated's Haley Kalil shocks in 'dental floss' one-piece

A Sports Illustrated swimsuit model has caused her fans to do a collective double-take over her very risqué ‘dental floss’ one-piece.

Haley Kalil shared a video on Instagram of herself wearing the white swimmers which, despite being hi-cut and offering more than a glimpse of side-boob, appeared fairly conservative from the front.

A quick twirl by the 27-year-old American, however, revealed that the back of her body was almost entirely exposed save for a few strategically-placed straps.

Haley, a former Miss USA contestant, admitted in the post’s caption that the barely-there beachwear was an attempt to adhere to her mother’s request that she models a one-piece during the Sports Illustrated swimsuit shoot.

“BTS of the @si_swimsuit shot I posted: When your mom tells you that she wants you to only shoot in one pieces...... MOM IT’S TECHNICALLY A ONE PIECE,” she wrote.

But, it was clear from Haley’s cheeky smile in the video that she was fully aware that the backless suit by swimwear brand Lola & Lamar skirted around her mum’s rule.

“The rules were a one-piece, so...” she declared before tossing her auburn locks and strutting away from the camera.

Fans react to swimsuit model’s ‘dental floss’ one-piece

Haley’s followers on Instagram tended to agree that the sizzling swimmers — which she said were ‘surprisingly super comfortable’ — passed muster.

“That looks like a one piece to me!” wrote one in the comments.

“Loopholes FTW!” said another.

“That's the sexiest one-piece I have ever seen!” remarked one.

Another follower decided to state the obvious, writing, “Wow the back half of the bathing suit is missing!?!!”

Haley showed off her cracking sense of humour by jumping into the comments section to banter with her fans.

“Is that a bathing suit or face mask?” joked one to which she replied, “It works as both. Quite the multipurpose item. Some may even use it as dental floss.”

“Lmfaooooo if ‘business in the front, party in the back’ was a swimsuit,” wrote another, prompting Haley to compare herself to a ‘walking mullet’.

The ‘dark side’ of social media

Back in January 2019, Haley opened up about the ‘dark side’ of social media by sharing a sample of the hurtful comments about her appearance she’d received online.

The Bachelor of Science graduate overlaid several horrible quotes from trolls — including “You’re fat,” “Gross face,” and “Too skinny” — on top of a photo of herself in a blue swimsuit while holidaying in Thailand.

In a lengthy and moving caption, Haley admitted that she ‘skims right past’ the mean comments but said it would’ve been a different story if she was younger.

She went on to caution others to stop and think before writing something offensive on someone else’s post.

“And next time you feel the need to comment something mean on someone’s photo... just remember that they are a human being who deserves to be treated with kindness NO MATTER WHAT. We need to be better than this!” she wrote.
