Stargate Origins has revealed its cast, with Australian actress Ellie Gall joining the series while former Stargate Atlantis actor Connor Trinneer returning to the franchise.
Gall will play the younger version of Catherine Langford from Stargate (via TVLine), while Atlantis actor Connor Trinneer will play her father Paul Langford, after originally playing Michael Kenmore in Atlantis.
Also set to star are Salome Azizi, Philip Alexander, Michelle Jubilee Gonzalez, Daniel Rashid, Sarah Navratil, Shvan Aladdin, Tonatiuh Elizarraraz, Derek Chariton, Justin Michael Terry and Lincoln Werner Hoppe, as confirmed by subscription platform Stargate Command.
The new digital series was first announced over the summer, and will comprise of 10 episodes running at 10 minutes each to stream on the Stargate-centric platform Stargate Command.
Origins is set to follow fan favourite character Catherine Langford – played by Elizabeth Hoffman originally – as she explores a new chapter in her early history.
The Langfords play an important role in the beginning of the Stargate programme, as they were both there when the original Stargate was discovered in Egypt in 1928.
She later hired Daniel Jackson (played by James Spader in the 1994 film and Michael Shanks in the TV series) to discover the purpose of the mystical artefact.
The franchise had its origins as a 1994 movie, before being turned into a TV series with 1997's Stargate SG-1 and inspired two subsequent spin-offs, 2004's Atlantis and 2010's Universe, which had varying degrees of success.
Stargate Origins will stream later this year on Stargate Command.
