Supergirl is kicking off its third season with one of the more obscure villains in the DC Comics canon.
Having dismantled Project Cadmus and fought off a Daxamite invasion last season, Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) will be facing earth-bound foes this year… at least to start with.
National City is once again under attack when Supergirl returns next month, this time from the high-tech assassin Robert DuBois (aka Bloodsport).
(As a side note, the DC super-villain Bloodsport predated the cheesy 1988 Jean-Claude Van Damme martial arts movie of the same name by about 10 months.)
(Bloodsport in Supergirl)
Supergirl will face this threat as she's dealing with her own inner-turmoil over whether she can ever truly maintain some semblance of a normal life through her secret identity Kara Danvers.
"I tried to be Kara Danvers for 15 years but I'm not supposed to be her," she laments. "What makes me me is Supergirl!"
Hopefully Supergirl can tackle that dual identity drama quickly because more than just Bloodsport will be reigning terror this season. A race of Kryptonian experiments called the Worldkillers are headed for earth, and they're not friendly!
All of this chaos will be happening at the same time as Calista Flockhart makes her return to DC TV as Supergirl's Cat Grant, only now it seems as if she's working at the White House!
In the US, Supergirl returns on Monday, October 9 at 8pm ET. Sky1 airs the series in the UK.
