Ted Lasso star breaks F-bomb rule during Emmys speech: ‘So sorry’
The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards have officially wrapped up for another year and it’s fair to say that they brought the fashion, the funny and the F-bombs.
Despite a “no swearing” policy in place, one award winner gave a very explicit acceptance speech during the televised ceremony.
Ted Lasso star surprised everyone with two F-bombs after winning the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series against three of his co-stars.
“So this speech is going to be f***ing short,” he began. “I was very, very specifically told I'm not allowed to swear.”

After thanking his co-stars and saying that the award is among the “greatest honours and privileges”, he swore a second time.
“This is the f***ing icing on the cake,” he concluded while holding his trophy. “I’m so sorry. Please have me back.”
While the 41-year-old was bleeped during the broadcast in America, his speech aired uncensored on Foxtel in Australia.
The rules against explicit language were also broken later on in the night by Mare of Easttown star Evan Peters, who said “s**t” while accepting the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.
Apple TV+’s sports-comedy series Ted Lasso was one of the major winners of the night, taking home four awards from nominations in six different categories.
Meanwhile, Netflix’s royal drama The Crown made history after winning every single award in the drama category, a feat that had only ever been achieved in the categories for comedy and miniseries.
