The Memphis-Tennessee men's basketball game won't take place as scheduled Saturday. The contest was canceled an hour before tipoff due to a COVID-19 situation within the Memphis team.

Tennessee basketball announced the news on its Twitter page. The university will refund tickets for the game.

Tennessee planned to hold an intra-squad scrimmage for fans who arrived at the arena. The team later announced it was unaware fans were not being allowed in the arena anymore.

Tennessee players still held a scrimmage in front of a limited number of people.

It's unclear how many members associated with Memphis tested positive for COVID-19 or if the cancelation came due to a close contact situation.
