Tom Felton Cleared Up Those Rumors About Him and Emma Watson

After Harry Potter stars Emma Watson and Tom Felton surprised the world with appearances together on social media, everyone was speculating about some sort of star-crossed, inter-Hogwarts-house romance. According to Entertainment Tonight, when Felton was asked about a possible connection with Watson, he clarified that they're just good friends, though there is "something" between them that's very special to him.

"We are something, if that makes any sense. We've been very close for a long time. I adore her," Felton said. "I think she's fantastic. Hopefully, she returns the compliment."

Felton went on to say that he's very close to many of his Harry Potter pals and that they talk all the time. And as for fans' not-so-subtle wishes for a real-life love between the two, Felton says that while he admires her, any sort of Malfoy-Hermione love is strictly in the minds and hearts of die-hard Harry Potter readers and viewers.

"As far as the romantic side of it, I think that's a Slytherin/Gryffindor thing rather than a Tom and Emma thing," he added. "I absolutely think the world of her. I think to be a part of what we've all been a part of, but for her to be the only girl, certainly the youngest one on set, to grow up with what she had to grow up with was incredibly exciting. You're going to get me teary now, but no, I think she's a fantastic influence on the world."

And though it's been two decades since they started working together, Felton adds that he doesn't think that the cast will ever grow apart.

"We do stay in touch, quite frequently," Felton said. "It is nice that we're in sort of four different corners of the earth and yet when we catch up, it feels like yesterday that this was all going on."

Co-star Rupert Grint mentioned Felton and Watson's chemistry, too. Back in 2019, he said that there was a connection between the two.

"There was always something," Grint told ET. "There was a little bit of a spark."
