  • Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson recently tested positive for coronavirus while in Australia.

  • The actor is now back on home turf and giving fans an update.

Thankfully, both Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson are now back at home after testing positive for coronavirus earlier this month.

The two previously told fans via social media they'd experienced symptoms including a fever, body aches and chills, but were self-isolating and being well taken care of.

Upon arriving back in Los Angeles, Tom took to Twitter to give fans a quick update. And just like the rest of us, the star is doing all he can to social distance. He said:

"Hey, Folks... We're home now and, like the rest of America, we carry on with sheltering in place and social distancing. Many, many thanks to everyone in Australia who looked after us. Their care and guidance made possible our return to the USA. And many thanks to all of you who reached out with well wishes. Rita and I so appreciate it. Hanx."

The Forrest Gump actor, 63, broke the news he and Rita has contracted the bug just weeks ago.

They were out in Queensland, Australia, where Tom was shooting a film about Elvis Presley alongside Baz Luhrmann.

"Hello folks," he wrote. "@ritawilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us. We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else.

"There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness. We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no? Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball. Hanx."

Since then, the couple have done all they can to reassure fans they're doing ok by posting regular updates.

In one, Tom encouraged everyone to use "common sense" and to keep following the set guidelines issued for coronavirus, advising people to socially distance themselves as much as possible.

Rita, meanwhile, has been providing plenty of entertainment on social media during the lockdown period. From posting hilarious videos of herself rapping, to even sharing her phone number with followers.

Let's keep that lockdown content coming, Rita.
