Man charged after bats, a machete and a rifle pulled in Auckland brawl

A 23-year-old has been arrested following a brawl involving machetes and bats in west Auckland last night.

The man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, as well as possession of an airgun with intent to threaten grievous bodily harm.

He will be appear in the Waitakere District Court today.

The fight was part of a neighbourhood dispute in Mili Way, Ranui, at around 9.40pm on Wednesday, police say.

Police say it escalated rapidly and a variety of weapons were used, including bats, a machete and a rifle.

A man who was allegedly holding a rifle was tasered by officers during the brawl.

"The person with the rifle was tasered by police after he did not put the gun down," police said in a statement.

At least one person was taken away by ambulance with a serious injury to their arm.
