Almost 15 months after his arrest, 57-year-old Patrick Perkins can now be identified as the man accused of terrorising women on the streets of North Adelaide over a seven-year period.

He was the first person arrested after the use of a new DNA testing technique, which enables scientists to match crime scene DNA to the relatives of an offender.

Last week, Mr Perkins pleaded not guilty to five counts, including one of rape and four of assault with intent to rape.
