Violence erupts between Melbourne and Adelaide A-League fans after extra time
Cameras captured eruption of violence outside Hindmarsh Stadium after Melbourne Victory scored a narrow win over Adelaide United.
A 7 News dashcam captured the moment two fans squared up for a fight.
One was knocked to the pavement and kicked before a group of fans ran off.
It is not known whether the attackers were United or Victory fans.
Mounted police were called up, riding in to disperse the rumbling rival fans.
Earlier in the night, four men were arrested for a number of behavioural offences. At least two were Adelaide United fans.
Tensions among the fans rose quickly after Victory broke a one-all deadlock with a goal in extra time.
The goal scratched a seven-year itch, with Melbourne going winless against Adelaide since 2009.
The Reds fan club has told 7 News It is worried such outbursts tarnish the club's reputation and deter families from embracing the sport.
Saturday night's violence is the latest episode in a long record of clashes between rival supporters in both Adelaide and Melbourne.
Victory supporters were put on notice in February for firing flares and a heavy police and a heavy security presence has become a hallmark of their games.
