Riverhead attack car caught on CCTV
Police have released CCTV footage they believe shows a vehicle carrying a woman into an Auckland quarry before it sped away after she had been badly beaten.
The woman may have been drugged and attacked before she came to in the quarry at Riverhead to find a baseball bat-armed man standing over her on Sunday morning.
Police said it was a "disturbing, nasty" attack.
On Tuesday they released CCTV footage which shows a car entering Sawmill Road quarry and then leaving 16 minutes later.
"We believe it is highly likely that the victim is inside this car and possibly unconscious when the car enters the quarry," said Detective Senior Sergeant Kim Libby.

Car experts are trying to identify the make and model of car but police wanted to hear from anyone who recognised it. The footage has been posted to the Waitemata police Facebook page.
The woman had been out with friends in Ponsonby prior to the attack and does not recall anything from the time she was with her friends until the time that she woke up in the quarry.
She suffered serious gashes to her head and face, had a broken thumb and was extremely traumatised.
Test will determine whether she had been drugged.
Police are also still trying to identify and locate the man seen talking to the victim outside the Mobil station on the corner of Ponsonby and K Roads earlier in the evening.
