West Auckland residents trapped as slip blocks homes

Five families are trapped after a slip blocked their driveway in the Auckland suburb of Titirangi.

According to a resident on landing Drive, half a hillside came sliding down onto their shared driveway, blocking 16 people in their homes.

The wall of mud came down around 1.30am this morning, with neighbours describing the noise of cracking trees as the hill gave way.

NZME reported hat no houses were in danger.

Families are now waiting for the mess to be cleared.
