A dog team failed to track the man down and police will continue their hunt on Friday.

Det Insp Sweeney said they were as concerned as the public about the number of such robberies in Canterbury lately and have been offering bar owners prevention advice.

"We encourage bar owners to ensure they do their banking daily and remain especially vigilant around closing time."
