A free trade agreement between New Zealand and the Gulf States will likely be on the agenda when Economic Development Minister Simon Bridges holds meetings with his ministerial counterparts in the United Arab Emirates.
Mr Bridges will travel to Dubai on Saturday ahead of meetings which are also expected to include renewable energy and economic collaboration.
He will also meet with New Zealand manufacturers based in Dubai as well as Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the chief executive of Emirates Airlines.
"Like New Zealand, the UAE is investing significantly in innovation and given the complementarity of our respective markets, this presents real potential for greater co-operation," he said.
The UAE is New Zealand's largest export market in the Middle East and the country's 12th largest trading partner.
