A 24-year-old tourist has died after having two limbs ripped off by a boat propeller as she enjoyed a dip in the ocean while on holiday with her family.
Yuranis Vanegas Peña was frolicking in a bay with loved ones when the boat's operator failed to see her in the water and ran over the student. The propeller cut off one of her arms and a leg, according to reports.
The shocking incident took place at Haynes Cay on the Colombian island of San Andrés, in the Caribbean on September 8.

Tourist suffers severe blood loss
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, but arrived without vital signs after suffering severe blood loss.
"The captain of the motorboat, who stopped to help at the scene, provided first aid and took the victim to hospital where she unfortunately died," Police spokesperson Carlos Solano said.
The boat captain also voluntarily handed himself over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office to help with an ongoing investigation.
Yuranis was a student from Cajicá, north east of the capital Bogota, who was visiting the Caribbean region on holiday with family members. Following her death, authorities said they plan to make the area only available to swimmers in the coming months.
A similar incident took place off the Rosario Islands in Colombia on 20 August. A Costa Rican tourist was struck by a boat propeller while swimming in the sea. The 21-year-old man remains in intensive care after suffering severe injuries to his buttocks and left thigh.
