Tourist's warning after hidden camera catches 'alarming' hotel act
A tourist was shocked to see a hotel worker going through his room while he was out and caught him in the act thanks to an app on his laptop.
The video of the hotel staff member going through the man's hotel room was shared to TikTok.
It shows the housekeeper helping himself to a beer from the fridge, going through drawers and he even starts poking around the safe.
Arturo Brunello said he would not be naming the hotel he stayed at, as the staff did handle the situation "very well". However, he wanted to give other people a heads up.
"Just be careful out there and use technology to your advantage," he wrote on TikTok.
"I'm honestly surprised he didn't see the green light on my webcam."
Throughout the video the housekeeper is seen going through Mr Brunello's room, all while he was out. At one point the housekeeper grabs Mr Brunello's bag and starts going through that.
Mr Brunello used an app called iSentry on his laptop. The app detects motion and then starts recording, he explained on TikTok.
He added that next time he will be blacking out the green light on his laptop.
This was the first time Mr Brunello had set up a camera in his hotel room. He said seeing the footage was "alarming".
Cleaner fired after video comes to light
Fortunately, the staff member from the hotel didn't take anything, with the exception of the beer.
"I didn't care about the beer. But there was some other stuff caught on camera that I cannot share on TikTok," he said in the comments of the video.
After reporting the incident to the staff, Mr Brunello said the cleaner was fired "on the spot".
He added there had been several reviews for this hotel that mentioned theft.
Quite a few people in the comments were shocked, some said it is for this very reason they don't allow housekeeping in when they're staying at a hotel.
