Tragic details behind Deadpool 2 death revealed
New details have emerged surrounding the fatal accident on the set of Deadpool 2, which took place last week killing stuntwoman Joi ‘SJ’ Harris.
The 32-year-old died after the motorcycle she was driving smashed into the windows of Vancouver’s Shaw Tower.
A preliminary investigation into the crash seems to suggest it was a freak event with considering Harris was not speeding and had already practiced the jump five times.
According to the report which has been published by Deadline, Harris was supposed to drive the motorcycle “out of the open doors of the building, across a concrete pad and down a ramp that had been built over three stairs and coming to a stop on the stair landing”.
Harris had gone over the stunt five times and each time completed it successfully.
But things changed once cameras started rolling.
The report claims that once the crew began shooting Harris continued past the planned stopping spot, hitting the gutter and flying off the bike and through the plate-glass window.
The bike reportedly never went over speeds of 15 kilometres an hour.
According to witnesses “the rider was standing on the bike, slams into the building, clearly hit and out-of-control and clearly not planned”.
Production on the film was immediately halted for 48 hours following the crash.
When filming did resume cast and crew observed a minutes silence in memory of Harris.
The film's star, Ryan Reynolds, also posted a touching message to Instagram page in memory of Harris.
