'Traumatic' death of woman, 41, in freak dog lead tragedy
A woman has suffered a “traumatic” death after a dog lead became tangled in a moving train.
The woman was standing on a platform with a dog tethered to her waist at a train station in San Francisco on September 13, according to transit authorities.
She was boarding a train when “at the very last second, right as the doors were closing”, she got off the train, clearing the doors, “and the dog did not”.
Authorities said she appeared to be waving at someone.
“The train departed with the dog inside the train and the woman was dragged and pulled into the track,” they said.
“The dog was not injured. There was no visual indication the dog was a service animal, but it is under investigation.”
Bay Area Rapid Transit’s Alicia Trost called the death “tragic”.

Mike Sim, who witnessed the woman being dragged on the tracks, told KGO, everyone on the platform “was in shock”.
"It was pretty traumatic," he told the station.
Mr Sim claims the woman, who was identified by the station as 41-year-old Amy Adams, was waving at her boyfriend and he spoke to the man after the accident.
An investigation into Ms Adams’ death is ongoing.
