Tributes are pouring in for an NHS nurse who was killed on Sunday evening.

Victoria Woodhall, 31, from South Yorkshire, was allegedly stabbed in the street and killed. Her husband was later arrested. He is now in custody.

Victoria and her husband had been married for seven months, and had two sons and a daughter.

Her friends Donna Wetherall and Kelly Sims set up an online fundraiser to help pay for her funeral. On the GoFundMe page, they said:

"Victoria will be deeply missed by friends, family and her children." They described her as "lovely and caring", "always helping others" and living "for her children."

"Sadly she was taken away at the young age of 31. R.I.P beautiful"

The death of Victoria Woodhall followed that of Ruth Williams, 67, who was allegedly strangled by her husband of 44 years last week.

Charity groups have raised concerns over domestic abuse against women and it is predicted to rise sharply as a result of Coronavirus, or Covid-19, with many women trapped at home with abusive partners.

Charity Women's Aid released a statement addressing the issue, saying:

"We know that the government’s advice on self or household-isolation will have a direct impact on women and children experiencing domestic abuse. Home is not likely to be a safe place for survivors of domestic abuse.

"We are concerned that social distancing and self-isolation will be used as a tool of coercive and controlling behaviour by perpetrators, and will shut down routes to safety and support."

If you, or someone you know, are experiencing abuse, visit https://www.womensaid.org.uk/information-support/ In an emergency, call 999.
