Trisha Goddard has said she almost died after recently breaking her leg.

The 64-year-old went into shock after breaking her thigh bone during a fall that now leaves her needing a walking frame to get around.

The TV presenter underwent emergency surgery and was in hospital for a week before being discharged on Friday, 29 July.

Giving her fans an update on Instagram, Goddard said the injury occurred after falling down stairs: "I've just had 2 of the toughest weeks... One where I was rushed to hospital for an emergency operation, literally roaring in pain.

"But I'm still alive... just. I spent a week in hospital, was discharged on the Friday and with the help of Mother Morphine, did my 3 hour @talktv shows on Saturday and Sunday."

Goddard also posted pictures of herself in the hospital, hooked up on an IV drip and she also gave fans a glimpse of her walking frame.

Her agent Jonathan Shallit then revealed the full extent of the incident on Twitter: "After week in hospital nothing stops TRISHA GODDARD broadcasting live 1pm today Talk Radio @TalkTV after nasty fall downstairs, trapped alone & going into shock with broken femur, unable to move for 3 hours, even with walking frame & sticks."

Goddard recently joined the upstart Talk TV alongside the likes of Piers Morgan, Jeremy Kyle and Tom Newton-Dunn.

She is best known for her daytime chat show that originally aired on ITV before moving to Channel 5 in 2004. Goddard was replaced on ITV by Kyle while Channel 5 axed Goddard's show in 2009.

Goddard later resurrected her talk show in America where it ran for two years between 2012 and 2014. She has been based in the US since 2010 where she started working on Maury as a conflict resolution expert.
