Trump continues pledge to revive centuries-old archaic ‘alien’ law
Donald Trump continued his pledge that the United States should “go back to 1798” and invoke an archaic law to deal with immigrants who commit crimes.
Speaking in Georgia on Wednesday (23 October), the former president again threatened to use part of the Alien and Sedition Acts.
The legislation limited civil liberties; it tightened restrictions on foreign-born Americans and limited speech critical of the government.
All but one of the four laws — the Alien Enemies Act — were eliminated by previous lawmakers.
Mr Trump then declared his support to introduce “the death penalty for any migrant that kills an American citizen or law enforcement officer.”
