Trump Doesn’t See DeSantis Appointing Daughter-in-Law to Senate
(Bloomberg) -- President-elect Donald Trump said he didn’t expect Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to appoint his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, to replace Marco Rubio, his nominee as Secretary of State, to represent the state in the US Senate.

“No, I don’t,” Trump said during a press conference Monday in Florida, adding that his daughter-in-law had opportunities for a television contract and that “her predominant thought is our country and her family.”
Still, the president-elect did not fully rule out the possibility, saying he did not know what DeSantis would ultimately do.
“Ron’s doing a good job — that’s his choice,” Trump said.
The president-elect did shower praise on Lara, the wife of his son Eric Trump who served as co-chair of the Republican National Committee.
“She did an amazing job,” Trump said, crediting her for an election victory that was “too big to rig.”
Earlier this month, Lara Trump told Fox News she would consider a Senate appointment if DeSantis offered, but had not yet spoken to the governor about the possibility.
