TV reporter found dead had revealed 'struggle' after eye surgery

A TV weather reporter who committed suicide had tweeted about her struggle to recover from eye surgery just weeks earlier.

FOX2 meteorologist Jessica Starr, 35, took her life this week after taking time off work to recover from her Lasik surgery two months ago. She has left behind two children and a husband.

The woman, who had been working at FOX2 since 2012, last month tweeted about the challenges she was facing in relation to her recovery.

“Yesterday was a struggle for me,” she said on November 15.

“I really wanted to come back but I need more time to recover.

“Please keep me in your thoughts during this challenging time.”

Starr’s colleagues have been shocked and heartbroken by her tragic death.

“Our dear friend and colleague Jessica Starr has died. She leaves behind a husband, two beautiful children and a loving family,” Fox2 News anchor Roop Raj tweeted.

“I send my deepest sympathies to her family. Our hometown girl will always be remembered fondly.”

Morning TV host Amy Andrews said “our hearts are broken”.

“Her Fox2 family is in deep shock and cannot believe such a wonderful, bright and intelligent woman is gone. Keep her family in your prayers in the coming days as we all deal with our grief,” she tweeted.
