TVLine Items: Wynonna Judd Joins Voice, Fourth Wing Series, GH Return and More

The Voice is feeling more than a little country.

The NBC music competition series has tapped Grammy Award winner and Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Wynonna Judd to serve as Mega Mentor on Season 24, it was announced on Tuesday. The singer joins coaches Niall Horan, John Legend, Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani to guide the contestants who have survived the Battle Rounds and are preparing for the three-way Knockouts, beginning Nov. 6.

Jordan’s Outlier Society have acquired the rights to Rebecca Yarros’ bestselling romantic fantasy book Fourth Wing (and its sequels) for a potential TV series, our sister site Variety reports. Yarros will serve as a non-writing executive producer on the project, which will stream on Prime Video if picked up. The books, dubbed the Empyrean series, are set at a brutal war college and follow unlikely 20-year-old dragon rider Violet Sorrengail.

* General Hospital will welcome back Ellen Travolta as the mother of Rena Sofer’s character, Lois, for a guest stint around Thanksgiving, Soap Opera Digest reports.

* The seven-part drama Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale, adapted from the novel by V.V. James, will debut with a two-episode premiere on Thursday, Jan. 4 on Sundance Now and AMC+, with new installments dropping weekly. The series is set in “a contemporary world where witchcraft is real,” reads the official description. “It takes place in the idyllic English town of Sanctuary, where for hundreds of years witches have lived peacefully, as valued members of society. Until now…”

* The second annual Byron Allen Presents TheGrio Awards, co-hosted by The Talk’s Sheryl Underwood and comedian Roy Wood, Jr., will air Saturday, Nov. 25 at 8/7c on CBS.
