Twitter uses Melania Trump's £3,000 green-screen dress to highlight key issues

From Harper's BAZAAR

Last night, Melania Trump took to the stage alongside her husband at the Republican National Convention, where she chose to wear a brightly coloured £3,000 gown. Twitter quickly likened the dress to a green screen and used the opportunity to highlight the many issues which they feel have been ignored by the present government.

The bright lime colour is similar to that of a green screen, a visual-effects and post-production tool where videos or images can be superimposed onto the background. This, of course, gave critics ample opportunity to draw attention to many of the important issues which are thought to have been largely ignored at the RNC, particularly the staggering (and still growing) number of deaths relating to coronavirus. Meanwhile, comedian and presenter Trevor Noah highlighted Donald Trump's friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, while others covered her dress with imagery from immigration detention centres.

Trump's choice of dress was perhaps not the smartest for the evening, given the colour's closeness to a green screen and the likelihood of the internet jumping on any opportunity to take a shot at the current First family. However, the pleated, caped dress by Valentino is actually a beautiful design – and one which you can still get your hands on. In fact, it is currently in the sale at Matches for half its usual price. Just try not to do anything too offensive before you wear it.
