UK pub erects 'social distancing' electric fence
(SOUNDBITE) (English) LANDLORD OF THE STAR INN, JONNY MCFADDEN, SAYING:
"I've put an electric fence in. I've installed an electric fence to keep the customers back from the bar. Social distancing."
This pub's shocking method
keeps its patrons at a distance
Location: Cornwall, England
Landlord Jonny McFadden
installed an electric fence at his bar
(SOUNDBITE) (English) LANDLORD OF THE STAR INN, JONNY MCFADDEN, SAYING:
"I run a very small bar. Everybody is accustomed to sitting at the bar, pushing at the bar. They can't do that now. Things have changed.
"As long as there's a warning sign on an electric fence and you are warned about it, it's totally legal. And there's the fear factor - it works. People are like sheep. Sheep keep away, people keep away."
But although he is determined
to protect his staff
customer safety is also key
(SOUNDBITE) (English) LANDLORD OF THE STAR INN, JONNY MCFADDEN, SAYING:
"There is a serious point to it. We've all got to keep social distancing and... it's not switched on!"
