Russian forces continue to assault Ukrainian positions near Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast, focusing on Chasiv Yar, Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of the Achilles Battalion, told Ukrainian TV broadcasters on March 29.

According to Fedorenko, Chasiv Yar remains a strategically important settlement for Ukraine to hold.

"This is a dominant height," he said.

“From Chasiv Yar, the enemy would be able to take control of Kostiantynivka and establish a bridgehead to assault Kostiantynivka and eventually reach Slovyansk.”

Thus far, the Ukrainian military is holding back invading Russian troops in the area.
