The Department for Work and Pensions has confirmed its benefit payments plan for the month ahead.

Benefit payments, including universal credit, will continue as normal, following the budget — the government's fiscal plan for the year ahead — on Wednesday.

Chancellor of the exchequer Rachel Reeves announced it will uprate benefits, including universal credit, payments in line with inflation.

The 1.7% increase, which will come into effect in April 2025, will result in a lift of £311.68 to £316.98 for a single under-25-year-old, and £393.45 to £400.14 to for a single person over that age.

Here's what universal credit payments look like in the month ahead.

The DWP has said that, as there are no bank holidays next month, payment dates will be scheduled as normal.

The date you will be paid November's universal credit will be the same date as the first month you were paid it. For example, you received your first payment on 5 June, then you will receive your November payment on 5 November.

Benefits are usually paid straight into your bank, building society or credit union account.

If your payment date is on a weekend or a bank holiday you’ll usually be paid on the working day before.

The government uses the (BACS) payment validation process the payments, which means that they usually arrive between midnight and the early hours of the morning.

If you believe you are due a payment and haven't received it, make sure you contact the DWP to let them know.

The government confirmed in the budget that universal credit payments will be uprated in line with inflation.

Universal credit is normally increased every April in line with the previous September's consumer price inflation rate.

That means those claiming universal credit can expect their payments to increase by 1.7% in April 2025.

As well as this, the government is expected to change the size of the repayments universal credit claimants have to make.
