Eight dead in church van crash in Florida

Eight people were killed and 10 others injured when a van crashed into a canal near Moore Haven, Florida. The van was carrying 18 people affiliated with The Independent Haitian Assembly of God church from Fort Pierce who were returning from a group trip to Fort Myers. The van was travelling eastbound on Highway 78 when it ran a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 27 near Moore Haven around 12:30 a.m. Monday morning.The vehicle crossed four lanes of traffic and crashed into a canal that was partially filled with water.Eight people, including the driver, were killed in the crash. Ten others were reported injured, including the only child passenger, age 4, who is now in stable condition. Officials have yet to determine the cause of the crash.
