Viral Trump Town Hall Voter Who Complimented His 'Beautiful Smile' Says She Is Actually Voting for Biden

A Florida woman who went viral at Thursday night's NBC town hall with President Donald Trump — complimenting him on his "beautiful smile" — will nonetheless be voting for his rival, Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

"I have to say you have a great smile — he does," Paulette Dale told Trump when it was her turn to ask a question at the event, filmed at the Perez Art Museum Miami.

"You're so handsome when you smile," Dale said.

The brief exchange quickly spread around social media. But it seems Dale, who lives in the Miami area, may have been making a different kind of point about Trump's behavior: that he should do more smiling, and less talking.

In an interview with Miami New Times after the town hall, Dale said Trump "steps in it every time he opens his mouth."

"I wish he would smile more and talk less," she said, "I think the man has a nice smile. However, I'm not a fan."

According to the New Times, she will cast her vote for Biden during Florida's early-voting period, beginning Monday.

At the town hall, Dale, a 68-year-old retired college professor, had asked Trump a question about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA), which shields some immigrants from deportation if they arrived in the country illegally as children.

"As the daughter of immigrants to the United States who fled Eastern Europe due to religious persecution, the United States' immigration policies are very personal for me," Dale said on NBC. "Surveys show that most Americans and the majority of Republicans support the Dreamers program. So my question for you, Mr. President, is: If you are elected to a second term, do you expect to pursue your previous efforts to cut the DACA program?"

"We are going to take care of DACA ... it's working right now. We're negotiating different aspects of immigration and immigration law ... We are working very hard on the DACA program and you will be, I think, very happy over the course of the next year, because I feel the same way as you do about it," the president said, without offering a firm answer to the question.

Dale, identified by moderator Savannah Guthrie as a registered Republican who "leans slightly for Biden," did not immediately return calls from PEOPLE, though her husband says she is actually a Democrat who hasn't yet gotten around to changing her voter registration.
