On tonight's episode (January 19) The Voice UK viewers were left all emotional after the opera performance from 35-year-old Luke Swatman.

Before going on stage, Luke said he had "something different to offer to the coaches," and he didn't disappoint as the whole audience urged judges to hit their buttons immediately.

Luke chose to perform his mesmerising version of Andrea Bocelli's 'Il Mare Calmo Della Sera'.

Olly Murs and Jennifer Hudson were both very impressed by Luke's vocals, and Olly was so determined to get Luke on his team that he mentioned he used to sing opera too.

Despite Olly's efforts, Luke decided to go with Jennifer, saying: "I've got to go with Jen."

The singer's opera performance was so praised that one viewer tweeted: "Wow...not my usual thing but what a singer... he gave me goosebumps."

Some viewers used some pretty strong language to express their love for Luke's powerhouse vocals.

Shortly after his performance was broadcast, Luke himself felt overwhelmed by the audience's positive feedback.

He wrote on Twitter: "Cannot thank you all enough for your messages on social media! My phone is going to melt! I will get back to you all but please bear with me! I’m on quadrupole figures here! Overwhelmed! Remember to FOLLOW guys!"

Elsewhere on the show, Olly has followed in Tom Jones's fine tradition of impromptu performances, after Jennifer encouraged him to perform 'Superstition' on the show.

It was the song Olly chose for his X Factor audition back in 2009, and the series helped Olly rise to fame.

Olly himself felt extremely grateful for having the opportunity to sing the audition song that's changed his life a decade ago.

The Voice UK returns next Saturday (January 26) at 8pm on ITV.
