Wareham Police cordons off beach so seal can rest

Police have cordoned off a section of a beach to allow a seal to get uninterrupted rest.

Wareham Police were called to Durdle Door, Dorset, earlier, to block off a section of the beach to "keep a safe distance between the public and the seal".

The force said the cordon also allowed the animal enough space to "feel comfortable".

Officers posted pictures of the seal on social media.

Police said the sunshine had attracted the seal for "an afternoon of relaxation".

The cordon also allowed the animal to avoid "getting stressed", the force said.
