WATCH: Kate Middleton and Prince William put on rare PDA

They’re not known for their public displays of affection, but with two children together, another baby on the way, and six years of marriage under their belt, Kate Middleton and Prince William are clearly still very smitten with each other.

The royal couple, who are expecting baby number three next April, were seen showing off an unexpectedly touchy-feely display while visiting the set of UK children’s TV show, Blue Peter.

Wills and Kate accepted a Gold Blue Peter Badge from TV hosts, with the pair laughing when they were told they were following in the footsteps of someone else who had been given the award – the Queen.

“We’ll compare,” laughed Wills.

Leaning over to put her hand on her husband’s knee, Kate joked, “We’ve got a lot more work to do, I think.”

During their relationship, Kate and Wills’ public displays of affection have been few and far between.

However with newly engaged Prince Harry and Meghan Markle openly showing affection for each other, it has some insiders wondering if this could be something the young royals will be embracing.

“While Prince Harry and Meghan holding hands is atypical for royal engagements, it is a seemingly welcomed gesture to show unity and celebration of their engagement period," etiquette expert Myka Meier told People.

“There is no protocol that says they can not show affection on official engagements, and this gesture makes them relatable and lovable to the public.”
