Watch: Aston Martin F1 announce signing of former Red Bull designer Adrian Newey
Watch as the Aston Martin F1 team announces Adrian Newey's move at their Silverstone base on Tuesday, 10 September.
The design guru, 65, who has been with Red Bull for 19 years, is set to sign a £20m-a-year contract with Lawrence Stroll’s team.
He is expected to leave Red Bull in early 2025.
Newey has previously worked for Williams and McLaren, and won 12 drivers’ and 13 constructors’ championships during a successful 30-year career.
Ferrari was heavily linked with signing Newey but he has decided to stay in the UK, where he will begin work on aiding Aston’s bid to become world champions, with an eye on new engine and chassis regulations in 2026.
Newey previously described how he wanted to work in motor racing as a designer since he was very young.
"I am lucky to have fulfilled that ambition, to have got that first job and been in motor racing ever since,” he said in May.
“Every day is just a bonus really. I love what I do.
“At some point I guess I will have a bit of a holiday. But as Forrest Gump said at the end of his long run, I feel a little bit tired at the moment but at some point I will probably go again.”
