Windsor police say they've arrested an individual for drug trafficking and seized over $500,000 in illegal drugs, including cocaine, fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine.

Police launched an investigation earlier this month into a suspected drug trafficking ring with links to the Greater Toronto Area, the Windsor Police Service said in a news release issued Thursday.

On Wednesday, officers arrested a 26-year-old man as he got out of a vehicle in the 200 block of Watson Avenue.

Their search turned up 1,978 grams of cocaine, 988 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 150 millilitres of codeine, $2,600 in cash and two cell phones.

Officers then got a search warrant for a nearby home where they allege trafficking was taking place.

A search there turned up an additional 625 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 504 grams of fentanyl and nine grams of cocaine.

Officers also found a Glock handgun magazine, nearly 100 rounds of different types of ammunition, a digital scale and drug packaging materials. A search warrant on another suspect vehicle turned up 38 more grams of cocaine.

The total value of the drugs seized was $502,770, police said.

The suspect has been charged with six counts of possessing cocaine, crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.

He's also charged with failure to comply with a release order.
