A novelty Christmas product has left one Woolworths shopper so incensed that they took to Facebook to publically call the supermarket chain out in a furious post.

The offending item happened to be a festive-themed roll of toilet paper that was emblazoned with 'Merry Christmas!' in red font along with snowflakes and stars.

Despite the cheery phrase, the seasonal bathroom buy failed to impress the customer in question, who deemed it 'offensive' and demanded Woolies remove the item from shelves.

"I'm disgusted and offended of the ‘Merry Christmas’ toilet roll that is in your current catalogue- 1st Dec, page 24 (under the heading Easy Christmas gifting)," the person wrote in a post on the retailer's Facebook page.

"I really think this is a very poor (and offensive) inclusion of your novelty items. To think, the reason we celebrate this festivity is degraded with this offensive item.

"Please remove these from your shelves & supply. Thankyou."

The toilet roll appeared in a recent catalogue alongside a variety of other novelty Christmas gifts including an animated reindeer, a 'Meet me under the mistletoe' mug and a pair of koala Christmas slippers.

Over in the comments section, fellow Woolies shoppers weren't so concerned about the loo roll, finding it a bit of festive fun.

"What's wrong with Xmas poo tickets?" one Facebook user quipped.

"I'm buying it!!" added another.

Others suggested the concerned shopper should 'grow up,' noting that Woolies is unlikely to remove the product just because one person takes offence.

Another user couldn't resist the opportunity for a cheeky toilet paper-themed pun.

"So you want them to wipe this item from their stores?" they deadpanned.
