Woolwich Township woman faces attempted murder charge after boy found with life-threatening injuries

A boy is in hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries and a 39-year-old woman from Woolwich Township has been arrested for attempted murder, police say.

Officers were called to a home in St. Jacobs Monday at 7:30 p.m. for a wellness check. When they arrived, they found the child with the injuries. He was taken to an out-of-region hospital by paramedics.

A 39-year-old woman was arrested for attempted murder. She was also taken to an out-of-region hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The woman is being held in police custody for a bail hearing.

Police say the woman and the boy "are known to each other" but did not disclose their relationship.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
