Nova Scotia's Labour Department is investigating a workplace incident after a 44-year-old man fell from a ladder in Bayers Lake Business Park on Wednesday afternoon.

Halifax Regional Police said they were called to the 200 block of Chain Lake Drive in Halifax around 2:30 p.m. to respond to the fall. They said the man was taken to hospital with what are believed to be life-threatening injuries.

Other than confirming they are investigating, the Labour Department did not say where the accident occurred, whether it happened indoors or outdoors, or if a stop-work order had been put in place.

"These details are part of the ongoing investigation, we cannot share further details at this time," a spokesperson for the department told CBC News in an email on Thursday.
