Man tries to kill bed bugs, blows up car instead

One thing is for sure, this car is no longer infested with bed bugs.

A Long Island man in the US has gone to extreme measures to eradicate an insect infestation from a rental car.

Bystanders captured the spectacular results on video.

Detective Sergeant Edward Fitzgerald told Newsday someone had told Kemery that saturating bed bugs in alcohol would prove fatal to them.

It is just unfortunate that no one told him alcohol was flammable.

So Kemery soaked the bugs in alcohol.

Then he lit a cigarette.

Then the car exploded.

The scorched earth approach to automotive pest control left both Kemery and two other cars in the supermarket parking lot with a range of exploding car related injuries.

Kemery escaped his car with only minor damage but the neighbouring vehicles were not so lucky, suffering fatal injuries as a result of their ordeal.

There is no official word on how many, if any, of the bed bugs survived although video taken by witnesses clearly shows they have learned a valuable lesson about living in any vehicle under the care and control of one Scott Kemery.
