In honor of Latinx Heritage Month (which takes place every year from September 15 to October 15), Yelp is partnering with Momento Latino to spotlight Latinx-owned business on the app. A new label feature on the Yelp app will help customers spot Latinx-owned restaurants to support over the course of the month and always.

Momento Latino is an organization that aims to uplift Latinx voices in a variety of industries by collaborating with nonprofit organizations, advocacy groups, and corporate leaders. Some of Momento Latino's partners include actress Eva Longoria and renowned chef José Andrés.

Through this partnership with Yelp, individuals will be able to easily find small businesses that are Latinx-owned in their communities. This an easy way to support these businesses during Latinx Heritage Month, but it is also important because of the continued findings that COVID-19 has disproportionately affected business owners of color; studies by the Pew Research Center haven shown that Latinx entrepreneurs have been hit especially hard.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Yelp to support Latino-owned businesses,” said founder of Momento Latino Henry R. Muñoz III in a Yelp blog post: "There has never been a more important time to recognize their contributions, and with Yelp’s partnership, we’re excited to lift up their work and support their success as part of Latinx Heritage Month.”

Latinx entrepreneurs can opt in to label their business as Latinx-owned through the Yelp for Business dashboard. From there, they can request a window decal through Yelp to proudly show off that their shop is Latinx-owned. Yelp will also be featuring stories from these businesses on their social channels throughout the month.
