Young Aussie wrecks rival with brutal liver shots

Perth's Nathaniel May completed a crunching knockout win early in the fifth round over previously unbeaten Brazilian featherweight Aelio Mesquita.

The 22-year-old consistently went to town on the lower torso area of his shaken opponent during the preliminary card to Jeff Horn's welterweight title fight.

In particular, four crippling shots to the liver were enough to make Mesquite go down to the mat for the third and final time.

The referee didn't even bother giving the Brazilian a count as he went down a final time.

The brutal victory earned May the IBF International Featherweight Title.

There was another crazy moment on the Horn undercard, as Alex Leapai's return to the boxing ring was ruined by a stray elbow and an ugly cut.
