It looks like two mates enjoying a beer at the pub on Saturday evening, but could not be further from the truth.

On the right hand side is 35-year-old Marrickville man Guy Henderson.

On the left in the singlet is Dylan Bailey who police have accused of murder.

The pair entered the hotel shortly before 6pm where they spent an hour sharing several beers.

They walked out the door around 7 o'clock. It would become the last known picture of Mr Henderson alive.

After leaving the pub the men made their way to Mr Henderson's girlfriend Katie Kaos' home.

Less than two hours later he was dead, allegedly stabbed in front of a number of people enjoying a party at the house.

Detective inspector Colin Cracknell said police "found a 35-year-old Marrickville man laying on the floor of the premises suffering from some significant stab wounds to the chest and back area".

The ex-army officer was on the run, but police found him a short time later hiding in an abandoned house.

Police entered the house with guns drawn, taking him to Lithgow police station where he was charged with murder.

Mr Bailey faced Bathurst courthouse Sunday afternoon.
