1 dead after tractor trailer overturns by highway

A single-vehicle crash in southwestern Newfoundland has left a 63-year-old man dead, police said Monday.

Around 4 p.m. NT on Friday, the Channel-Port aux Basques RCMP detachment received a report from someone who had spotted an overturned tractor trailer near South Branch, along the Trans-Canada Highway.

When police officers arrived they found a man dead inside the vehicle.

A collision reconstructionist helped with the investigation. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was called.

Police said the investigation is continuing.
