Mint Butterfield, the 16-year-old child of Slack's billionaire co-founder Stewart Butterfield, has been found alive in San Francisco after they were first reported missing nearly one week ago.

According to an email to the press written by Stewart, Mint's mother, Flickr co-founder Caterina Fake, and stepdad and fellow tech founder, Jyri Engestrom, Mint — who uses they/them pronouns — was found by the Marin County Sheriff's Office and the San Francisco Police Department.

Adam Schermerhorn, a public information officer with the Marin County Sheriff's Office, confirmed to the San Francisco Standard that Mint was found on the evening of April 27.

"A heartfelt thanks to all the family, friends, volunteers and strangers who called in tips and made this recovery possible," the family's message read, per the San Francisco Standard. "We especially want to thank the seasoned law enforcement officers who understand the very real threat of predators who use the allure of drugs to groom teenagers."

According to a previous press release issued by the Marin County Sheriff's Office on Thursday, April 25, Mint was described as a "voluntary missing person."

Fake first reported the teen as missing after discovering a note on the morning of April 22 indicating Mint had left.

The teenager was last seen on Sunday, April 21, at approximately 10 p.m. in Bolinas, California. Schermerhorn previously told PEOPLE that authorities "do not have any reason to believe there is foul play" or "anything criminal" in connection to Mint's disappearance.

"It is unclear how Mint left the area, as they did not have access to a vehicle, or phone," police said in the press release. "At this time, we have no information to believe that Mint was taken against their will. The Sheriff’s Office is considering Mint a voluntary-missing juvenile, who is “At- Risk” due to a reported previous threat of suicide."

Police went on to say that based on statements from the teen's mom, they believed Mint may have traveled to the Tenderloin District of San Francisco, which is located about 30 miles from where Mint was last seen in Bolinas.
