Saskatchewan's Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety says an inmate has died in Regina.

According to a release, it happened Tuesday morning at the Regina Correctional Centre (RCC), where staff found the 36-year-old man unresponsive on a living unit at about 9:20 a.m. CST.

The ministry said correctional staff tried life saving measures, but the man was declared dead shortly after, around 10 a.m. CST.

RCMP and Saskatchewan Corners Service are investigating the death, the release said.

The ministry said it will also do an internal investigation, but foul play is not suspected at this time.
