A 6-year-old boy who was in a car accident in Georgia earlier over the weekend, which already claimed the lives of his parents and brother, has died.

Titus Mason died on Wednesday, May 22, according to a GoFundMe created on behalf of the child’s family.

“Unfortunately, after extensive tests & the best of medical care, Titus was pronounced dead this morning & removed from life support. We thank you all for the outpouring of prayers, love, & support— it has been felt by the family & greatly appreciated in such a dark time,” read a tragic update on the fundraising page.

The Georgia Department of Public Safety told PEOPLE that said that authorities responded to a multi-vehicle crash on I-75 Southbound near mile marker 286 on May 19.

The department said that three occupants in the Kia – Dakarai Mason, 43, Erin Mason, 35, and Brandon Crawford, 14 – were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other juveniles, later identified as Titus Mason and his brother Noah, were transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

Erin Mason was remembered as a "beloved member" of the Holly Springs Police Department.

"Please keep the family of Erin and Dakarai Mason in your thoughts and prayers," the department wrote in a social media tribute on May20. "We ask that everyone be respectful of the family's wishes for privacy during their time of grieving.”

And the difficult task of telling Brandon's football teammates at Cass High School about what happened fell to coach Steve Gates.

“I do remember myself finishing, saying, ‘That’s all I got,’ “ Gates said, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “And I turned around and walked back into my office. When I finished, oddly enough, they sat there for probably another 10 minutes and you could have heard a pin drop.”
