“90 Day”: Liz Refuses to 'Give Up' on Ed but He’s Been 'Looking for an Excuse to Call Off the Wedding' (Exclusive)

Since going on their first date in 2021, the couple have called it quits 15 times

Liz isn't quite ready to call things quits with Ed.

In PEOPLE's exclusive sneak peek at Sunday's episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, Liz meets Ed at a coffee shop to confront him about calling off their wedding without telling her. With tears forming in her eyes, she tells cameras that despite her on-again-off-again partner's shortcomings, she still wants to make things work.

"Being in a committed relationship, you stick through it [during] hard times, 100%," Liz says in her confessional. "So, I don't want to give up. I want to be with Ed. I have absolutely no idea what I would do next if this is the end and that scares me."

At the cafe, Ed asks Liz how she's doing. After a short pause, she answers her former fiancé with a slight shrug and Ed breaks the silence in an effort to explain himself.

"I want you to know that I think I've been kind of just looking for her an excuse," he says, trailing off before Liz completes his sentence, "To call off the wedding?"

When Ed solemnly nods his head in agreement, Liz wipes the tears that threaten to fall from her eyes.

"We both have had s--- marriages and I know we wouldn't want to end in a divorce and that's how I saw happening and I didn't want to do that to you," he admits as Liz tells Ed that she should have known about his decision to call things off "first."

In an episode that aired earlier this season, Ed made the decision to cancel their wedding after the couple's latest argument about seasoned taco pasta. Reflecting on their relationship and recent arguments, Ed realized the move to Arkansas didn’t improve their relationship but it did give him a new perspective.

The next day, she woke up to find him "gone." In a conversation with cameras, Liz grew emotional, recalling her version of the events.

“Yesterday, I received a text message from our officiant telling me how sorry he was that the wedding was called off,” she said tearfully. “Ed cancelled our wedding without even telling me.”

With no explanation from Ed, Liz questioned what changed so quickly that he would cancel the wedding without a conversation. “The only thing I can think of is Ed's getting cold feet and he never actually really wanted to get married because although we've been the best we've ever been, we still have our issues,” she said.

Liz concluded, “I don't think I could have shown this man any more effort, that he means everything to me.” She ended the conversation by calling Ed a “coward” and a “weakling” for his lack of respect and communication.
