The moment 'axe-wielding woman attacks 7-Eleven customers'
GRAPHIC WARNING: Footage has emerged of the moment a woman went on an alleged axe-rampage in a Sydney 7-Eleven.
CCTV footage captured the moment Evie Amati, 24, strolled into the Enmore convenience store at 2:19am on Saturday morning before making conversation with Benjamin Rimmer as he waited in line to pay for his meat pie.
After a brief conversation Mr Rimmer can be seen turning his back to Ms Amati when she allegedly struck him in the face with the axe before turning the weapon on Sharon Hacker, 43, as she went to exit the store.
Ms Hacker told media that if had not been for her incredibly thick dreadlocks the axe wound to the back of her head could have been a lot worse.
“She just came with full force and swung and struck the man across the face,” Ms Hacker said.
“Then (she) turned immediately around to me and again, with both hands, came through and struck me with the axe in the back of the head.
“And then as I was falling forward, (she) came in again and came down and struck me again.
“His face was completely opened up and bleeding profusely,” Ms Hacker said. “I’m just very lucky that I have very thick dreadlocks.”
As police and paramedics rushed to Stanmore Road, bystander Nathan Wood reportedly gave chase to Ms Amati until she threatened to turn the axe on him.
As police desperately worked to locate the blonde-haired attacker, it was a sniffer dog that detected Ms Amati laying down in the front yard of a nearby property.
Both victims were taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital to be treated for their injuries with Ms Hacker suffering a skull fracture, while Mr Rimmer is said to have suffered serious head injuries.
Amati was arrested and charged with intentionally causing grievous bodily harm and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday where she was denied bail.
It was reported that Ms Amati requested the type of medication used by a person transitioning gender from male to female.
She has been remanded in custody and will front court again on Thursday.
